Welcome to the new Grangebeg Camphill Community blog! We are in the process of updating our website, so in the meantime check this blog for news and photos from the community.
Grangebeg is a new community, set on a south-west facing hill looking over the plains of Kildare, not far from the foothills of the Wicklow mountains. With 46 acres of land, there is space here to breathe, to walk, to connect with nature and the seasons.
The community is currently home to 25 people, (9 of whom have special needs), a small herd of beef cattle, and about a hundred chickens. While the organic farm and vegetable garden are the focus of the working life for many, there is also valuable work to be done in the houses, the bakery and the candle-making workshop.
The community is still in the stage of pioneering; there is plenty more to do in the realm of building human connections both within and outside the community. We already have strong connections with local farmers, and we are working to forge more connections in the local community, particularly in the nearest town Dunlavin, 3km away.
People who join us should be prepared for a community which is still evolving, where there is space for people to take things on, to show initiative, and to really be involved in the growth and development of the community.
